Project Description:
There are approximately 10 interpreted Lewis & Clark sites in Clatsop County. Most are reached off of US 101, US 30, or OR 202. Intersection improvements are needed to deal with safety hazards, to provide directional signing, and to accommodate left turn movements and left turn storage on Highway 30 MP from milepost 86.5 to 88. (Access to Twilight Creek Eagle Sanctuary, the first interpreted Lewis & Clark site on SR 30 leading into Astoria).

The need for this project was defined by the Lewis & Clark Bicentennial Association and by the CEDC Transportation Committee. While no local funds are available, ODOT recognizes the need for improvements and to disperse visitors throughout the region. The cities of Astoria, Warrenton, and Seaside support these improvements.

Preliminary assessment and cost estimates have been completed. Funds are not available within ODOT for this road improvement work. Matching funds are also not available within ODOT, 100% funding is required. |
