Project Description:

This project will develop a unified plan for the North Highway 97, corridor, a state-designated "scenic byway" serving visitors to Oregon for the Lewis & Clark Bicentennial. The plan includes improvements to sidewalks, intersections, and bicycle/pedestrian paths. Improvements to landscaping, lighting, and signage will ensure that travelers are informed and able to traverse the corridor and enjoy its many assets. The project includes a 57-mile section from Biggs Junction to historic Shaniko.

This project is included in ODOT's Highway 97 Corridor Plan and by North Central Oregon Regional Strategies Tourism Commission's Strategic Plan. The project also has volunteer support from the community.

Project Status:

A TEA-21 application was submitted in August, 1999. The project is ready to proceed with funding for design and construction.
