Project Description:
Sherman County would like to install standard double vault restrooms in DeMoss Park to accommodate visitors exploring Oregon's heritage resources during Lewis & Clark Bicentennial. The existing restrooms at the park are very old and have outlived their usefulness. They are in a wooden structure with rotting floors and leaking toilets which makes them virtually beyond repair. This park, directly off Hwy 97, is used extensively, especially during the summer months. The restrooms' location at the back side of the park is inconvenient for visitors and invites vandalism. The County would like to install ADA restrooms of quality standards, at a more accommodating location in the park. |

Other Comments:
Sherman County maintains and runs the park. An informational kiosk explains the history of the DeMoss family, long-time County residents. Maintaining and keeping the park in optimum condition is vital to the history of Sherman County. This park also sits on the route of the "Journey through Time", celebrated every summer. Project ranked 4 of 5 in Sherman County. |
