Project Description:
With increased boater visitation anticipated for the Bicentennial, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service needs to provide refuge information at key access points on the lower Columbia River. This project includes interpretive and information signs in kiosk structures at the Aldrich Point and John Day River boat launches, a refuge brochure, and a permanent full-time outdoor recreation planner on the refuge staff. Interpretive exhibits would address the Lewis & Clark expedition and the wildlife they encountered in this area, including waterfowl, bald eagles, condors, and Columbian white-tailed deer, Service management for those species, and where they can be viewed today.
