Project Description:

A bi-state effort to reclaim the banks of the Columbia and Willamette rivers in the Portland-Vancouver metro area, this project will focus on 13 local Lewis & Clark landing sites as a framework for historical interpretation, community events, elementary education, native reconciliation, natural restoration, and tourism infrastructure. The goal is to coordinate a thoughtful and comprehensive effort to re-instill an understanding of how rivers unite our region. The Bicentennial presents an opportunity to unify this region through the values of discovery, leadership, and a sense of community - and to leave a legacy that endures beyond the Bicentennial celebration.
