Project Description:

The Oregon State Legislative Assembly will celebrate Oregon's birthday on Feb. 14, 2005. A week-long celebration will include events Monday through Friday, Feb. 14 - 18, 2005. This project will focus on commemoration of the Lewis & Clark travels in Oregon and on reconciliation with the Indian Tribes in the Oregon area. Special guest speakers, tribal dancing, special foods, historical actors to play Lewis, Clark, Jefferson, and Sacagawea will be a few of the activities. The week will end with a Lewis & Clark Ball in the rotunda of the State Capitol. |

The Capitol Foundation Committee (a legislative committee) will conduct fundraising efforts. Many items such as wine, food, costumes, etc. may well be in-kind donations. Staffing, invitations, all paperwork will be donated by the Legislative Administration. |

The Capitol Foundation Committee will structure a plan for fundraising efforts in 2001. A system for fundraising will be in place for the 2003 & 2005 events. |
