Project Description:
We cannot see today what Lewis & Clark saw when they canoed down the Columbia River, but we can recreate the journey using computer imaging and video technology. Imagine a video journey, from The Dalles to Fort Clatsop, seeing what Lewis & Clark saw from their canoes and as they portaged around Celilo Falls. The images would be created by enhancing modern photographs of specific locations along the route to simulate historical conditions as accurately as possible, including vegetation, wildlife, geologic features, river levels, native peoples, riparian features, and weather conditions. The product would be an educational CD-ROM and/or videotape. |
