the Vision
The nationally acclaimed Museum
at Warm Springs in Central Oregon will celebrate its tenth anniversary
in 2003, starting with a rededication ceremony on May 31. The museum
was created by the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs to serve as a
living legacy to their culture and people - the Wasco, Warm Springs and
Paiute tribes. The 25,000-square-foot facility houses the single largest
collection of tribal artifacts under one roof and also features a changing
exhibit gallery. The museum grounds offer walking trails along Shitike
Creek, a picnic area and outdoor amphitheater. In addition to the rededication,
special anniversary events planned include a Memorial Horse Parade, an
exhibit of artwork by renowned Native American artist Allan Houser, and
ongoing family activities from May 24 through Labor Day.
